Saša Novak Uí Chonchúir

Green Party Councillor for Limerick City North

Candidate in Local Elections on 7th June

Hello Limerick City!

Posted by:

Let me introduce myself. I am your new local councillor. I am a member of the Green Party and represent the area of Limerick City North. You may not know me because you didn’t see my face on the posters last May. It was Brian Leddin who was elected in the local elections in 2019. He decided to run in the 2020 general election, got elected to the Dáil and I was nominated and elected by the Limerick Green Party to take his seat in the Limerick Council.

I have been living in Limerick for 13 years and am enchanted by what it has to offer. The Shannon and its banks, the old Georgian Quarter, the green parks and the friendly people are among many things that make Limerick so special. However, there is untapped potential in Limerick and I will work to transform Limerick into a modern, sustainable and prosperous city. The Limerick I would like to see comprises many strong communities just like yours, an accessible city centre that is full of life to enjoy with your children and the granparents, safe roads and streets for you to cycle and walk on, clean parks, rivers and air for you to enjoy, excellent public transport services and safe active transport environment for those of you who choose to live without a car, and affordable housing solutions.

Since my selection in late February I have attended only two Council meetings before the coronavirus pandemic reached Ireland. How we operate as public representatives has changed dramatically in a span of a few short weeks, but once we all get accustomed to the new environment the council work will continue as normal. I will try my best to assist you in the meantime with any issue or question you may have. We may have to keep our distance now, but my phone and my inbox are open, so get it touch!
